Have you ever tried so hard to stop doing something you considered sinful or wrong? By now, you would have found out that you just can’t do it on your own. It’s probably as though there’s a power stronger than you are, that causes you to sin (and in fact, there is).

Apart from being a nature, sin is also powerful (having a power of its own) and this is clearly stated in God’s word:

“But the scripture says that the whole world is under the power (oppression) of sin…”Galatians 3:22

Sin indeed has the ability (power) to enslave any man as long as he is not in Christ, he is essentially a slave to sin (Romans 7:14), but in Christ, he is dead to sin!
“And we know that our old being has been put to death with Christ on his cross, in order that the power of the sinful self might be destroyed, so that we should no  longer be the slaves of sin.” – Romans 6:6 GNT

Therefore, anyone who doesn’t have Christ is under this power of sin unable to please God and joyfully obey Him. However, I’ve got good news for you because this is the very reason why Christ came.

“She will have a son, and you will name him Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.”         Matthew 1:21 GNT

Christ came to deliver us from this powerful grip of sin; He came to set us free so that we can live the very life which He has ordained for us (to be kings and priests unto God).

“And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first to be raised from death and who is also the ruler of the kings of the world. He loves us, and by his sacrificial death he has freed us from our sins and made us a kingdom of priests to serve his God and father. To Jesus Christ be the glory and power forever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 1:5-6 GNT

Christ came that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly!
