“What an unhappy man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is taking me to death? Thanks be to God, who does this through our Lord Jesus Christ!” Romans 7:24-25 GNT
The devil has a way of making people unaware of their power of choice. Although the unsaved man is naturally under the power of sin, every man in Christ has been delivered from sin and its power!
Ignorance of God’s word is one thing the devil leverages upon to hold men bound, little wonder Jesus said, “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” Without the knowledge of God’s word, man can easily be deceived into believing that he has no choice other than committing sin, but the good news is that God has restored man’s original authority over all things (which was stolen by the devil in the Garden of Eden) through Christ Jesus. We are no longer slaves to sin and we have a choice not to sin.
The scripture says;
“Sin must no longer rule in your mortal bodies, so that you obey the desires of your natural self. Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin to be used for wicked purposes. (In contrast to what the devil makes it seem) Instead, give yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes.”
– Romans 6:12-13 GNT
Never allow the devil talk you into believing that you have no choice other than to sin, he is not your master and hence shouldn’t order you around! He is simply a foolish thief and a chronic liar.
“But if you keep on committing sin, it shows that you belong to Satan, who since he first began to sin has kept steadily at it. But the son of God came to destroy these works of the devil. The person who has been born into God’s family does not make a practice of committing sin, because now God’s life is in him; so he CAN’T keep on committing sin, for his new life has been born into him and controls him – he has been born again.”
– 1 John 3:8-9 TLB
Beloved, you definitely have a choice and you aren’t hopeless and helpless. You are born of God and you can stop that very sin that seems so impossible because Christ has paid the price for your freedom from sin!
