It was an almost perfect thursday morning,  I had just gotten into the pharmacy where I work when a call came through.

The always cheerful lady, nurse IJ,

as she’s often called picked up her phone and suddenly became a masquerade…I have never seen her so angry and bitter.

Being from a different tribe(Igbo), she spoke more in her dialect so I couldn’t her the whole gist.wink*
The little I heard was “He has even taken over my facebook account, goes around with other girls but still monitors my life…”
That was all I heard before I had to do some official paper work.

I knew something was wrong. Her caller was obviously begging on behalf of your naughty and unfaithful boyfriend.  She was in an abusive relationship but now, she has had it up to here…

Her mood and eyes had changed when I returned, I suspected she had spent some quality time crying. So, I thought “How can I be of help?”

Just before I approached her,  a statement which had jumped into my head(while reading “How to Get Rich” by Donald Trump) came handy; Sometimes, the way up is out.

All I had to do was a little addition inorder for those words to make sense to my emotionally bartered nurse friend. So I wrote these in a paper and passed it to her-

“Sometimes the way forward is out. I have heard people say that the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know- I believe that’s the greatest lie ever thought and it’s simply ridiculous for two reasons; one, because the last I heard of the devil he was too proud to repent and secondly, we both know he wouldn’t change…you’ve got to let go of your fear, go out there and be found by your angel!”

Her reply was, “Do you know how long I have been waiting for him?”, which I quickly replied to saying, “There’s no point waiting for someone who doesn’t see you as worthwhile”…

The fact is that we sometimes find ourselves in unhealthy or abusive relationships and due to the initial emotional attachment, we keep lying to ourselves saying words like, “I know he will be change, he loves me but beats me up when he is drunk” or “although she smokes and sometimes sleep with other guys, she is really pretty and I love her”

Hey honey, can I be frank with you…if he doesn’t treat you like a princess, then he’s probably not your prince and vis versa for thou shalt not stay in an abusive relationship, because thou deserve to be treated like the princess/prince you really are.

Someone who will treat you right is already waiting, don’t allow fear keep you in bondage!

Thanks for reading, bet you were blesses! Please don’t forget to share this post with your community of family and friends…you never know, you might just be saving a life. *wink*

Bless your darling heart.
